3 IPS officers including Vijay Kumar promoted to ADGP in J&K

Srinagar: Three officers of Indian Police Service (IPS) including Vijay Kumar of Jammu and Kashmir cadre have been promoted to the rank of Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) with immediate effect.

According to official sources, Inspector General of Police Vijay Kumar, Garib Das and Alok Kumar, all IPS officers of 1997 batch, have been promoted to the rank of ADGPs by the Union Ministry of External Affairs. According to sources, Viplav Choudhary has been granted proforma promotion to ADGP rank.

Kumar, who is serving as the Inspector General of Police in Kashmir for the last two years, has experience in handling anti-militancy operations in Kashmir and anti-Maoist operations in Bastar area of Chhattisgarh.

Kumar is a recipient of four Gallantry Medals, Meritorious Service Medal, National Award by the ECI and various other Commendation medals by the COAS, GoC-in-C (Northern Command), DG CRPF and DGP J&K for the services rendered by him. /BI/
