50th Khajuraho Dance Festival creates Guinness world record

Bhopal: The 50th Khajuraho Dance Festival witnessed a historic moment as 1,484 Kathak exponents set a Guinness World Record, dancing harmoniously to the enchanting beats of Raga Basant. 

Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav, accompanying the rhythmic spectacle with the ancient Nagara instrument, emphasised the significance of dance as a form of worship and direct communion with the divine. Under the choreography of dance guru Rajendra Gangani, the performance, blending tradition and innovation, unfolded for 20 minutes, with Ghunghru sadhaks gracefully executing moves with lamps in hand. Khajuraho is a UNESCO world heritage site.

While extending his best wishes to the performers, the CM said that the festival of cultural revival is being celebrated all over India under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In this series, this sadhana dedicated to Lord Natraja Mahadev will become the pride of Indian culture and guide the future generations.

The CM announced the establishment of India's first Gurukul at Khajuraho, dedicated to preserving tribal and folk arts. This initiative aims to protect traditional skills and indigenous knowledge systems, ensuring their transmission to future generations while enriching rural life.

Dharmendra Singh Lodhi, Minister of State for Culture, Tourism; V D Sharma, MLA Khajuraho were also present on the occasion. /BI
