Batch of 22 IPS officers visit Naval Office In Charge (APD)

New Delhi: A batch of 22 IPS officers visited Naval Office In Charge (APD) on July 21, 2023 to understand the ecosystem and ways of functioning of those guarding our maritime borders.
The officers at Naval Office In Charge (APD) gave insights on the role and responsibilities of the Indian Navy, Coastal Security Construct and Sagar Prahari Bal. A brief overview of coastal security organisation, inter agency coordination and monitoring-cum-surveillance mechanism were also provided to the officers.
The officers were given an overview of Indian Maritime history. The visit ended with a patrol sortie onboard Naval fast Interceptor Craft FIC in Visakhapatnam Harbour.
The training-cum-interaction programme helped the IPS officers understand the role and efforts of the Indian Navy towards ensuring coastal security. The visit also provided the officers an opportunity to appreciate multifaceted qualitative training imparted by Command towards operation and maintenance of assets of the Indian Navy.
The Eastern Naval Command, established on March 1, 1968, is one of the three command-level formations of the Indian Navy headquartered in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. The Command is responsible for all Naval forces guarding the Bay of Bengal and parts of the Indian Ocean and the Naval establishments on the East Coast of India.
Vice Admiral Biswajit Dasgupta is the current Flag Officer Commanding in Chief, Eastern Naval Command.
