New Delhi / Patna, April 14, 2021: Bureaucrats India on Tuesday evening exposed a fake narrative being pedaled by some journalists and netizens about a video from Bihar's Gaya district. In the said video, which is in our possession, it was being said that a Dalit boy is being subjected to humiliation by men of “upper caste” for not siding with them in the upcoming Bihar Panchayat elections. The matter pertained to Kadhauna village under the jurisdiction of Wazirganj police station in Gaya district. It is pertinent to mention that the Bihar Panchayat elections are not yet announced.

Sensing that something was amiss, we approached the police and district administration and was informed that the said incident was 8-day-old and related to a case of alleged elopement of this boy, who is being subjected to humiliation in the said video. The Police had subsequently filed an FIR and nabbed six accused in the case.

The boy in this video had reportedly eloped a week back with a girl of his own caste. Later when the girl's father recovered the couple, he took the boy to the former Mukhiya of the village, where this video was reportedly shot. The former Mukhiya, according to the Police, is absconding. However, officials said that efforts are underway and raids are being conducted to arrest him.

Later in the evening, Bihar Government’s Information and Public Department too clarified that “@bihar_police have acted in the matter and based on an FIR in Wazirganj PS, arrested 6 accused. The 8-day-old matter pertains to an elopement case, & has nothing to do with Panchayat elections. Efforts are on to nab other accused shown in the video.”
