Bhubaneswar: For effective policing, cops don’t only need to be disciplined and tightened but should also be patted for doing good work! This is the mantra which Odisha Police has imbibed under the leadership of Director General of Police (DGP) Abhay.

It has now been decided that DGP’s Commendation Roll for Meritorious Service will be conferred upon deserving cops every year, without any break, a move which has gone down well with the state’s police circles. www.bureaucratsindia.in spoke to a couple of cops, who have hailed the move, saying that appreciation comes as a big morale boost.

DGP Abhay has issued an order, detailing standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the selection of the recipients. He has asked the heads of different establishments of the state police to strictly follow the protocol. The DGP has been commending the personnel for their outstanding work as and when it comes to his eyesight.

The process of presenting awards has been started, which will be given at the respective district police headquarters. The heads of the police establishments concerned will make entries about the awards in the service books of the recipients.

The DGP has commended the officers for their outstanding work in the fields of investigation and prosecution, drugs trafficking, cybercrimes, recovery of arms and ammunition, economic offenses, counter Maoist/terrorist operations, organized crimes, and execution of non-bailable warrants.

His another tweet reads: “Congratulations Inspr Prakash Kumar Sahu of Belaguntha PS who has been awarded DGP’s Commendation Roll for investigation of 114 nos SR, Non-SR & UD cases during the year-2020. Best wishes for continuance with the same zeal, hard work & commitment in future also.”
