BSF Nabs Two Smugglers with 52 Gold Biscuits Valued at Rs. 4.24 Crore at ICP Petrapole

New Delhi: Border Security Force's North 24 Parganas unit achieves major success by seizing 52 gold biscuits worth Rs. 4.24 crore and apprehending two smugglers at ICP Petrapole. The jawans of ICP Petrapole, 145 Battalion, received credible information on May 8, 2023, about gold smuggling from Bangladesh to India through the Royal Friendship International Passenger Bus (Reg. No. TR 01 G 1171), which was en route from Agartala via Dhaka to Kolkata.

The BSF personnel acted swiftly on the provided information and intercepted the Royal Friendship International Passenger Bus (Reg. No. TR 01 G 1171) at ICP Petrapole for inspection. During the search, the BSF team discovered 52 gold biscuits weighing 6,950 grams concealed in a hollow pipe near the bus's fuel tank. The bus driver, Mustafa, and his helper, Matur Rahman Akanda, who are Bangladeshi nationals, were immediately apprehended by the BSF.

The 52 seized gold biscuits are valued at approximately Rs 4.24 cr and are handed over to DRI, Kolkata along with the arrested smugglers. During his visit to ICP Petrapole, the DG BSF expressed his satisfaction with the success of the BSF troops and declared cash rewards for their efforts.
