Chhattisgarh Government reshuffles senior IPS officers

Raipur: Chhattisgarh government has undertaken a major reshuffling of six senior IPS officers, including five of Inspector General of Police (IGP) rank.

In a move aimed at optimizing administrative efficiency, the state's home department issued an order on Thursday night, resulting in the creation of a new post of IGP Rajnandgaon, responsible for overseeing the regions of Rajnandgaon, Kabirdham, Khairagarh-Chhuikhadan-Gandai (KCG), and Mohla-Manpur-Ambagarh Chowki (MMA) districts. Additionally, the role of DIG Raigarh has been established, covering Raigarh, Sakti, and Jashpur districts.

The reshuffle also involved changes in the Inspector Generals across four police ranges - Raipur, Bilaspur, Durg, and Surguja.

According to the order, IPS officer Anand Chhabra (2001), formerly serving as IGP of Durg range, has been appointed as the new IGP of Bilaspur Range. Concurrently, the current IGP of Bilaspur range, Badri Narayan Meena, has been reassigned as the IGP of Durg range, encompassing Durg, Bemetara, and Balod districts.

Furthermore, IPS officer Ratan Lal Dangi (2003) batch and currently serving as the director of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose State Police Academy in Chandrakhuri area, Raipur, has been assigned the additional responsibility of IGP Raipur range, with jurisdiction limited to Raipur district.

Following Dangi's fresh appointment, IPS officer Ajay Yadav (2004) will be relieved from the additional charge of the IGP Raipur range and will continue serving as IG Intelligence.

In another notable change, IPS officer Rahul Bhagat (2005) who recently returned to his parent Chhattisgarh cadre from central deputation and was serving as IGP of Police Headquarters (PHQ) in Raipur, has been appointed as the new IGP Rajnandgaon.

Likewise, IPS officer Ankit Garg (2004) who also returned from central deputation, has been transferred to the IGP Surguja range.

Additionally, the in-charge IGP of Surguja range, Ram Gopal Garg, has been reassigned to the position of Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP) Raigarh, as stated in the order. /BI
