Sundargarh: There are multiple ways to make an enabling impact on youths so that they are able to carve a niche for themselves in a better manner. The Sundargarh Administration is facilitating free competitive examination coaching to them under ‘Sudakshya’ programme, writes Rajeev R.

“Youths’ response to the programme has been quite good. It is heartening indeed to see them gearing up for competitive examinations. It shows their will power and willingness to move on in life in a better manner. It is a good omen, indeed,” said Nikhil Pavan Kalyan, IAS officer of 2012 batch, currently posted as Collector and District Magistrate, Sundargarh, Odisha.

So far, as many as 150 youth have received free competitive exam coaching across three centres being run under the aegis of ‘Sudakshya’ programme of the District Administration. The second batch has started in virtual mode amid Covid-19 restrictions. ‘Sudakshya’ centres at Sundargarh, Rourkela and Bonai are being run with the financial support of District Mineral Foundation (DMF) Trust founded by the state government.

The DMF is supporting a number of initiatives aimed at empowering poor people, farmers and others. Under the Millets Odisha programme, more than 13,000 farmers have cultivated 11,725.00 acre land across 11 blocks in the year 2021-22 in Sundargarh district. Millets are cultivated in 11 blocks of the district out of which seven blocks are being supported by the DMF.

Similarly, the children of 3-6 years are being served ‘Raagi Ladoo’ mix as a morning snack through the Anganwadi Centre to promote their nutrition. Over 63,000 children are benefited through 3,809 Anganwadi Centres across the district. /BI/
