Haryana DGP chairs meeting, reviews traffic management in the state

Chandigarh: Haryana Director General of Police (DGP) PK Agrawal has emphasised for better traffic management in a professional manner so that people do not face inconvenience and improvement is visible on ground. The DGP was presiding over a meeting to review the various traffic related issues with senior police officers at Police Headquarters on Friday.

He said that the responsibilities of traffic police have increased manifold in view of the growing population and increasing flow of road traffic. Effective mechanisms need to be adopted to streamline traffic so that the people find themselves more secure while being on the road. In addition, all stakeholders need to be taken into confidence in order to achieve desired results, he added.

The DGP also directed the SP, Traffic and Highways, to personally visit the police assistance booths across the state to check the facilities already available and resources required for better utilization of these services in the larger public interest. He asked the officer concerned to submit a proposal for providing necessary shelter and other related infrastructure for the traffic personnel at different places of duty.

All possible welfare measures would be taken to ease the difficulties of the personnel. Besides educating and aware people about safe and secure journeys, the traffic police must ensure strict implementation of rules and regulations for ensuring best possible traffic management, he added. ADGP, IT, AS Chawla, ADGP, Law and Order, Navdeep Singh Virk, IGP, Traffic and Highways, Haryana, Rajshree Singh and other officers were also present in the meeting.
