NLC India Ltd Distributes Sewing Machines among women in Thittakudi

New Delhi: As part of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), NLC India Ltd (NLCIL), a Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE), distributed 2,000 motorised sewing machines valued at Rs 1.2 crore to economically disadvantaged women at Thittakudi in Cuddalore district, Tamil Nadu.

The initiative, aimed at creating self-employment opportunities, was unveiled at a ceremony at Kazhudur village, where the State's Minister for Labour Welfare and Skill Development, CV Ganesan handed over the sewing machines to the beneficiaries.

NLCIL Chairman-cum-Managing Director Prasanna Kumar Motupalli highlighted the commitment towards empowering women through skill development.

NLCIL is actively contributing to the region's infrastructure by desilting water bodies and constructing a check dam at Thittakudi, aligning with its CSR objectives. The overall CSR investment by the NLCIL in Cuddalore district has reached Rs 300 crore over the past decade.

NLC India Ltd is a Navratna company under Ministry of Coal. The company has been in existence since 1956 and its core business is mining and power generation.
