New Delhi: Don’t panic but just stay calm and positive even if your oxygen level has gone down due to Covid-19 and you will survive, says senior IAS officer and Bulandshahr District Magistrate (DM) Ravindra Kumar. Having climbed Mt Everest twice and basis his own life experience, Kumar said, among others having a positive frame of mind helps people tide over this emergency. Do not lose hope even before you have received medical help!

Talking to Bureaucrats India, and recalling his mountaineering experience of April 2013, Kumar said: “Once, while trekking, at 18200 feet in Kala Patthar on April 16, my oxygen level went down to 58 percent but I survived.” “One should stay calm. Be optimistic and this shall increase your chances of survival during Covid-19,” said the 2011 batch IAS officer.

Kumar is the first IAS officer of India to climb Mount Everest, twice. He has also written a book ‘Many Everests,’ which has tremendous capacity to change people’s lives by teaching them a positive way of life and giving them a miraculous tool to success called ‘Advanced Positive Visualization.’

The second wave of Covid-19 is certainly wreaking havoc but the pandemic does not mean the end of life. By following fundamental changes in our lifestyles we can survive this crisis. “There is a need for us to stick to proper Covid-19 behaviour. One should wear mask properly and maintain social distance,” said Kumar.

Asking people to be restrained and not get into a panic mode, Kumar said, “Once, my oxygen level went down at a place where there was neither hospital nor doctor. But I could save myself due to a calm mind, positive visualization and optimistic approach,” he said.

He further said: “People are losing hope. We know that there are other constraints at this time but I strongly believe that many people can save themselves by staying calm and developing optimistic approach, before and during treatment.”

With a vast administrative experience, including that of managing Covid in 2020 in Bulandshahr, Kumar said, “I earnestly appeal all to stay at home as far as possible and take all due precautions to safeguard themselves from Covid-19. Even if you are infected anyhow, please avoid panicking and try for effective treatment measures with calm mind and positive visualization,” he said.

The message from Kumar is simple but loud: Stay composed. Don’t compromise with Covid-19 appropriate behaviour! /BI/
