RailTel receives prestigious SCOPE Eminence Award for Institutional Excellence

New Delhi: RailTel, a leading miniratna Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) under the Ministry of Railways, has been honored with the prestigious SCOPE Eminence Award in the Institutional Excellence (Miniratna I&II) category. The award, presented by the Hon’ble Vice President of India, Jagdeep Dhankhar, recognizes RailTel's outstanding performance during the year 2019-2020.
The award ceremony, held at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi, showcased RailTel's remarkable achievements, with the company standing out for its comprehensive performance in essential parameters such as financial standing, business operations, customer relations, and corporate social responsibility. The selection process, chaired by Justice T.S. Thakur, former Chief Justice of India, involved a rigorous evaluation by an eminent jury, according to an official statement.
Expressing gratitude for the award, Sanjai Kumar, CMD, RailTel, highlighted the collective effort of the RailTel team and acknowledged the steadfast support of stakeholders. He said, "The RailTel family is deeply honored to receive the prestigious SCOPE award. This recognition serves as a motivating force, inspiring us to extend our limits and propel RailTel to greater heights, contributing significantly to the digital advancement of our nation."
RailTel, listed on the stock exchange with a market cap of Rs.11,600+ Crore, has emerged as one of the few profit-making and dividend-paying telecom PSUs in the country. Beyond financial success, RailTel has played a pivotal role in bridging the Digital Divide, transforming over 6108 railway stations into hubs of Digital Inclusion through cutting-edge public Wi-Fi services, the statement says.
Functioning as the Digital transformation partner for Indian Railways, RailTel has undertaken significant projects, including the implementation of NIC e-Office, Hospital Management Information System, and IP-based Video Surveillance for Railway passenger security. The organization's commitment to innovation and technological advancement is evident in its role as a trusted network service provider for crucial sectors such as Coal, Banking, and Defence. /BI/
