Ahmedabad: Tata Motors, in association with Ahmedabad District Co-operative Milk Producers Union Limited and Gujarat Dairy Development Board, has begun a transformative initiative in rural Gujarat, especifically around remote areas of Sanand.

This initiative, akin to 'White Revolution', has brought about significant socio-economic empowerment for over 1,600 women residing in remote regions near Sanand. Through the strategic deployment of Automated Milk Systems and Chilling Units, the lives of 4,496 cooperative members across 32 villages have undergone a transformation.

Traditionally, dairy farming in these areas, predominantly managed by women from the Bharwar and Koli Patel communities, served as a supplementary income source. These women, often gifted with a cow or buffalo in their weddings, meticulously handled every aspect of the dairy farming, from tending to fodder to selling milk.

Recognising the potential within these communities, Tata Motors introduced cooperatives marrying them with technology. This step not only has enhanced production dairy but also provides essential training to ensure sustainable progress.

The impact of increased income extends beyond financial gains; it has enabled these women to prioritise education for their children and improve healthcare access, resulting in a significant reduction in maternal and child mortality rates.

Vinod Kulkarni, CSR Head at Tata Motors, underscored the organisation's commitment to foster enduring change and growth within communities. He emphasised Tata Motors' role as catalysts for transformation, highlighting the strategic partnership with local authorities as instrumental in driving these impactful initiatives.

Hemant B Patel of the Ahmedabad District Cooperative Milk Producers Union Limited commended Tata Motors for its initiative, which has not only bolstered the local economy but also fostered a culture of collaboration and sustainable development. /BI
