New Delhi: Srinivasan Services Trust (SST), the social arm of TVS Motor Company and Sundaram-Clayton Limited, has recently committed Rs 20 million to support various conservation initiatives in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.

These initiatives focus on crucial areas such as water conservation and forest equipment, transportation and anti-poaching camps in six tiger reserves. The primary aim of these efforts is to enhance the living conditions of forest department staff and establish anti-poaching camps with essential amenities like solar power and drinking water facilities.

SST's tiger conservation program is an integral part of their broader mission, which revolves around the development of tribal villages. Over the past 16 years, Srinivasan Services Trust has already invested more than Rs 250 million in advancing the well-being and progress of these communities.

Swaran Singh, Chairman, Srinivasan Services Trust, said, "Our dedication to tiger conservation goes beyond mere corporate social responsibility. At Srinivasan Services Trust, we consider it our duty to lead the way and inspire other corporations to actively participate in environmental stewardship. By each company stepping up, we can collectively magnify the impact of conservation efforts, ensuring a brighter future for our wildlife. Our focus extends beyond ourselves; it's about fostering collaboration among governments, non-governmental organizations, and all stakeholders, uniting them under a common cause for a sustainable and thriving world."

In 2022, Srinivasan Services Trust made several notable contributions to tiger reserves and wildlife conservation. To support the Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve, they donated a minibus, providing essential transportation for conservation efforts. Additionally, Srinivasan Services Trust aided the Bandipur Tiger Reserve by donating two motorcycles suitable for forest roads and supplying tractors for water transportation in Mudumalai and Bandhavgarh.

In their dedication to bolster conservation initiatives, SST also equipped Mudumalai, Sathyamangalam and Kalakkad-Mundanthurai tiger reserves with high-luminescent search lights and GPS devices, enhancing their capacity for monitoring and protection.

Furthermore, SST joined hands with the Nagarahole Tiger Reserve for a pioneering pilot project involving electronic surveillance. This initiative aims to gather crucial data on human-animal conflicts and leverage the information for improved reserve management.

These efforts exemplify Srinivasan Services Trust's commitment to wildlife conservation and tribal development, demonstrating how businesses can play a vital role in preserving natural heritage and empowering marginalized communities. /BI/
