Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh Government has cleared a new policy to boost electronics component manufacturing with a planned investment of Rs 5,000 crore. The Uttar Pradesh Electronics Component Manufacturing Policy-2025 (UP ECMP-2025), which will be effective from April 1, 2025, for six years, focuses on the production of 11 critical components, including displays, camera modules, and multilayer PCBs.
Aligned with the Centre’s Electronics Component Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS), the policy aims to strengthen the state’s electronics supply chain and create lakhs of jobs. Entrepreneurs investing under the scheme will be eligible for state incentives in addition to central benefits. A nodal agency, supported by a policy implementation unit and an empowered committee, will oversee the rollout.
According to the government, UP ECMP-2025 is designed not only to expand local manufacturing but also to reduce import dependence and encourage innovation, positioning Uttar Pradesh as an important player in the global electronics industry.
Principal Secretary Anurag Yadav said, "Unprecedented progress has been made in electronics manufacturing in the country over the past eight years. While only two units were producing mobile phones in 2015, today 300 units are operational. Production of electronic goods has increased from Rs 1.9 lakh crore to over Rs 11 lakh crore. Mobile phone exports have risen from Rs 1,500 crore to Rs 2 lakh crore. UP has become the epicentre of this revolution, producing more than half of the country's mobile phones. This policy will take UP to new heights of economic growth and self-reliance, while also creating employment opportunities for the youth."
The policy is expected to accelerate industrial growth in the state, attract investments, and further consolidate Uttar Pradesh’s position as a hub for electronics manufacturing.
