Zeta expands digital learning push with new computer lab at Bengaluru government school

Bengaluru: Zeta has opened its second computer lab in a government school, marking another step in its effort to strengthen digital learning at the grassroots. The new lab, inaugurated at Cheemasandra Government School on Children’s Day in partnership with Project Shiksha, is designed to support more than 300 upper primary students with structured computer education over the next year.

The facility includes computer systems, high-speed internet, and upgraded classroom infrastructure. Students will learn coding basics, digital literacy, e-waste management, STEM projects, and gain early exposure to AI and cybersecurity concepts, helping them build practical skills that can support future academic and career pathways.

This expansion follows the first Project Shiksha lab that Zeta launched on 5 September 2024 at Chinnagenahalli Government Primary School. That initiative introduced 300 students to formal computer education for the first time, leading to hands-on projects such as remote-controlled cars, participation in workshops, and noticeable improvement in digital confidence.

Beyond infrastructure, Zeta funds teaching staff, trains local educators, and integrates digital modules into the school curriculum to ensure consistent learning outcomes. Employees are also encouraged to volunteer for workshops and interactive sessions, giving students exposure to professionals working in technology.

“Digital inclusion is a key enabler of progress, and initiatives like Project Shiksha allow us to extend the benefits of technology beyond business,” said Shubhayu Sengupta, Chief People Officer at Zeta. “By investing in digital learning infrastructure at the grassroots level, we aim to create long-term impact and enable students to develop the skills needed for a digital future.”

“At Project Shiksha, every digital lab we build is a step toward equality in learning. Our continued partnership with Zeta is helping us open digital doors for children who deserve the same opportunities as any global learner. Through this initiative, we aim to build the digital literacy narrative for the last mile, ensuring that technology becomes a bridge, not a barrier, to education,” said Neha Chawla, Founder & Director, Project Shiksha.

Zeta plans to set up one new computer lab every year, gradually expanding digital access to more government schools and helping young learners engage with India’s fast-growing digital economy.
