Fast-track immigration facility launched at five more airports

New Delhi: The Ministry of Home Affairs has rolled out the Fast Track Immigration–Trusted Traveller Program at Lucknow, Thiruvananthapuram, Trichy, Calicut and Amritsar airports through video conferencing.

The initiative is designed to make international mobility faster, smoother and more secure by reducing human intervention in immigration clearance. It will operate through e-gates or automated border gates and will be available to both Indian nationals and Overseas Citizens of India passengers.

“The Fast Track Immigration program is a trusted traveller program that will make immigration simpler, faster, and hassle-free. It will also promote both convenience and national security,” the Union Home Minister Amit Shah said at the launch.

First introduced in New Delhi last year, the facility has now been extended to 13 airports. So far, three lakh passengers have registered on the portal.

Data shared by the ministry shows that in the last eleven years, international passenger traffic has risen sharply. The number of Indians travelling abroad was 3.54 crore in 2014 and has since increased by around 73 percent to 6.12 crore. Similarly, foreign arrivals grew from 1.53 crore in 2014 to about 2 crore in 2024.
